Mumbai – Good news for Tata Motors, news reports said Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), The luxury car brand of Tata has started shipping cars to the US again, after this news Tata Motors Shares were higher about 1.5% on May 5.
News agency Reuters, quoting the London Times report where mentioned that Tata Motor’s luxury car brand Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has sent its first batch of luxury cars on April 30, after almost a month long pause due to global tariff war due to the 25% tariff on car imports by that US President Donald Trump on last April 2. After this news of shipment Tata Motors’ shares got high by up to 1% on May 5, and higher by 12.5 percent over last one month.
UK made JLR has not officially commented on the resuming of shipments of its car, but this new development is very significant as US is the second biggest market for JLR cars after the European Union, making up nearly 20 percent of its exports.
A JLR spokesperson told Reuters correspondent that the US remains a key market for its JLR’s luxury cars, even with 25% auto tariffs still in effect. “As we work to address the new US trading terms with our business partners, we are enacting our planned short-term actions, as we develop our mid- to long-term plans. We will give a further update at our full year results in May,” the statement added.
