Brazil has exported $10 billion of chicken meat in 2024, that has a market share of about 35% of global trade. Much of that came from meat processors BRF and JBS, Brazil exporting this meat to nearly 150 countries.
Brazil is exporting its chicken mainly to China, Japan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Carlos Favaro, Agriculture Minister of Brazil said on Friday China had banned poultry imports from the country for 60 days. Under agreements Saudi Arabia, UAE and Japan, he clarified that a trade ban would only restrict shipments from the Bird Flu affected state, he said eventually, just the municipality area of bird flu affected area in question.

Brazilian farm minister Favaro said Brazil was working to control the flu outbreak and negotiate with the business partner countries to loosening of trade restrictions faster than the two months stipulated in protocols.
Flavo speaks to media channel CNN Brasil and said “If we manage to eliminate the outbreak, we think it’s possible to re-establish a normal trade flow before the 60 days are up, including with China”
He clarifies chicken products shipped by Thursday will not be affected by trade restrictions, The Brazilian ministry said in its statement that it was officially notifying the World Organization about the current Animal Health.
