India manufactured the 4,500-HP locomotives, valued over3,000 core now ready to export west African country Guinea. Engines are well equipped with air-conditioned driver’s compartment, microprocessor based controls, regenerative braking systems, along with modular architecture
New Delhi – India will export 150 locomotives valued at over Rs 3,000 crore to the West African nation of Guinea, the Ministry of Railways stated on Monday, June 16, 2025.This order is big boost of India’s Make in India initiative. Guinea required these locomotive for its operation at its Simandou iron ore project, one of the world’s largest untapped reserves of high-grade iron ore.
Indian Railways spokesperson said. “ As per export agreement the Railway Locomotive factory in Marhowrah, Bihar, will supply 150 Evolution Series ES43ACmi locomotives. This Agreement was tendered through global competitive bidding.
A Railway Spokesperson said “Every locomotive has 4,500-horsepower and equipped with advanced alternating current (AC) propulsion, latest Modular Architecture regenerative and Propulsion braking. As per contract India will deliver 37 locomotives in the current financial year, 82 will be exported in the next financial year, and next 31 locomotives will be exported in the 3rd year,”
