Argentina government announced beef and cantle exports to Indonesia after meeting with high level government official of Indonesia in Jakarta
Jakarta – Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of Argentina, Agustin Tejeda Rodriguez, offers to export beef and cattle to Indonesia in a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister of Indonesian Agriculture, Sudaryonp, at the Ministry of Agriculture office, Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
Indonesia Minister Sudaryonp said “From our perspective, Indonesia does not have a strategic issue; it is more technical. This afternoon’s visit is his second,” after the meeting. His counterpart Argentinian Minister Rodriguez had previously visited Indonesia in November 2024.
Indonesian Minister explained the three proposed aspects which government considers in responding to Argentina’s proposal. This Gerindra Party politician said the government needs to pay attention to the price of imported beef and cattle due to the long distance between the two countries.
The Indonesian government also considers the reciprocal aspect to balance the price. If Argentina exports beef and cattle, in return, Indonesia also wants to export commodities to the Latin American country. The government is considering exporting fruits, chickens, processed food products and horticultural products.
Due to majority of Muslim population in Indonesia the government pays attention to halal certification also, along with this certification health certification is also needed for this deal. Indonesian Minister Sudaryono said “Halal is a very important issue in food consumption”
Sudaryono said that the bilateral agreement on beef imports is carried out between governments Indonesian and Argentina Government (G2G). However, companies (B2B) from both the country can also participate to implement imports.
Argentina Minister Rodriguez added that he will continue working to make Argentine beef and other products available in the Indonesian market. he claims that Argentina is opening international business. so, he wants to strong relations with Argentina. “Hopefully, we can taste Argentine beef this year,” he said.
The volume of the beef that can be export from Argentina to Indonesia has not disclosed so far.
